Ramón Martínez & Frank Zappa (Ibiza 1989)

Ramón Martínez was born and educated, both academically and professionally, in Madrid. His interest for photography began at an early age, the first seven years of his apprenticeship being self-taught. He attended art studies to later enrol in the “CENTRO DE ENSEÑANZAS DE LA IMAGEN” (CEI), where he studied professional photography during three years.

His work has been published in many prestigious magazines such as ARTE FOTOGRÁFICO, PHOTO, ZOOM… The “ENCICLOPEDIA PLANETA DE LA FOTOGRAFÍA”, included in its pages a section on “mixed techniques” (black and white photography, painted by hand), giving the colour technique an innovatory quality. His technique also acclaimed as innovatory by other media. He also formed part of the first directive council of the “ASOCIACIÓN DE FOTÓGRAFOS PROFESIONALES DE PUBLICIDAD Y MODA DE MADRID” (AFP/PMM).

He carried out various photographic expositions throughout Spain; some of these being the most important taking place in the SPANISH MUSEUM OF CONTEMPORARY ART in MADRID, together with his work colleagues at AFP/PMM.
The beginning of his professional career developed in the world of “motoring”, covering various National and European circuits; in the world of music, with disc covers, singer and band reports, live concerts etc. His work also opened up into the world of fashion, with catalogue collections and some publicity campaigns.

In 1983 he directed and coordinated one number of NIGHT magazine of Madrid with respect to the island of Ibiza. Enchanted by such an extraordinary island “special floor for photography”, he put into operation the editorial project of IBIZA LIGHTS MAGAZINE, which he then produced, edited and directed during five years, also being the principle photographer and designer of the publication.

As a result, Ramón Martínez changed his residence from Madrid to Ibiza where he continues to work in publicity, fashion and editorial: collections, catalogues, magazines, books and modelling portfolios, as well as the internet, without leaving behind his gallery and photographic studio. Practically all of the images you are about to see on this web site have been published in distinct areas for distinct Clients.
